How do you hard reset a Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT?

Here is the answer I got from Garmin Support, and it fixed it! 🙂

Problem was that the unit booted with the Garmin logo, showed “Loading Maps”, after that disappeared, it should have shown the Dahsboard, but it just powered off. (before this I had the Garmin lay around for almost  1 1/2 year, not being used)

First make sure the Garmin is powered off. Then press down and hold with your thumb on the right bottom corner area of the Garmin. Continue holding and power on the Garmin. When the Garmin comes to a screen that it seems to be stalled on release your thumb and you should be given the option to erase all the data.

After that, I used Garmin Express to install software and maps again.

I would guess that it is broken ( bad battery), they are quite old afterall ,)

My 9 year old Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT was acting up after installing red light traffic cameras and the latest software updates just recently. Basically it was a useless piece of garbage and was looking like it may become a paper weight. Then I thought of doing a factory reset and came across this blog. Worked like a charm! I didn’t lose anything, but reinstalled my maps to ensure it was up to date. No problems yet… works great. Fingers crossed it stays that way. So thanks for the tip Martin, really appreciate this. It saves me having to deal with someone in Tech Support.

My Garmin Nuvi 2595 can no longer receive a GPS signal but the cardinal points are followed and the screen car is mostly off the road followed. It can no longer be programmed for an address.
